Helicopter joyrides will offer a glimpse of areas like Nandi Hills, Wonderla, South Bengaluru. 
It looks like heli-tourism is picking up pace in Bengaluru. After chopper rides from Bengaluru International Airport to various localities in the city, now a firm has come up to offer joy rides on helicopters in the city. 

A joint venture of National Aerospace, Research and Development (NARD) and Flyme, the chopper services will begin services shortly. There will be pick-up points from Nandi Hills and Bidadi to start with. And the firm promises to customise routes.

Robin George, CEO NARD, said, “These will act as the low-cost air taxis in and around the city. Currently, we are operating an AS350 helicopter which is a six-seater. We will be adding one more six-seater helicopter in November.”

NARD is also preparing heliports in Bidadi, Nandi Hills Road, and Dommasandra. Naik added, “In future, we will be planning to operate air-taxis in Uttarakhand and Kedarnath as well. Our aim is to promote tourism of all sorts, right from a pilgrimage to adventure.”

In Bengaluru, those planning to see Nandi hills from the top or those interested in an aerial view of south Bengaluru could avail of these rides. An official added, “We are planning to have rides in and around Wonderla as well. Visitors to the place will have a chance to take these rides and get a glimpse of the other part of the city.”

The firm is also planning to use rooftop helipads in the city to extend the routes. An official said, “The city has more than 90 rooftop helipads but only one has the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) approval so far.” They are also coming up with a website and an Android app from where customers can book seats like they do for the flights, added Flyme CEO Prasanna Venkatesh J.
