Almost everything in an office operates on electricity. To protect your workers, you should properly educate them and ensure that your office is safe and free from Electrical hazards.

Below are 14 tips to prevent electrical accidents in your workplace. 

1) Use only equipment that is properly grounded or double-insulated

2) Do not overload outlets;

3) Do not plug multi-outlet bars to other multi-outlet bars;

4) Only use equipment that has been approved by a national testing laboratory For a full list of approved labs.

5) Minimize the use of extension cords.  Do not plug two extension cords together;

6) Do not cover power cords or extension cords with rugs or mats, as this can cause issues with the wires or create potential tripping hazards

7) Do not run electrical cords through pedestrian aisles, as this creates tripping hazards

8) Unplug or disconnect machines before servicing or repairing, and check to make sure the machine is actually disconnected and turned off prior to service

9) Do not ignore warning signs. If an item feels hot, makes an unusual noise (buzz or hum), smokes or sparks, take it out of service immediately and tag it “Do Not Use”

10) Inspect cords and equipment regularly, and report any defects immediately

11) Cover or guard any exposed electrical components or wires, and make sure employees are aware of any hazards

12) Unplug cords from the outlet by gripping the plug.  Do not just pull the cord from a distance

13) Do not use electrical equipment or appliances near water or wet surfaces

14) Never use electrical equipment when your hands or the equipment is wet

ISRO Plans to Launch CHANDRAYAAN-2 in Coming January is Enroute to Bangalore

Chandrayaan-2 that ISRO plans to launch in early January next year is enroute to Bengaluru:-

Akey payload, which will part of the India’s second mission to the moon, Chandrayaan-2 that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to launch in early January next year is enroute to Bengaluru.

The Ka Band Radar Altimeter and HDA Processor of the Chandrayaan-2’s Lander will arrive in Bengaluru soon for integration with the spacecraft.

“Chandrayaan-2 Lander Ka Band Radar Altimeter and HDA Processor was flagged Space Applications Centre (SAC) from SAC, Ahmedabad to U R Rao Satellite Centre, Bengaluru. Ka Band Radar Altimeter and HDA Processor is one of the key payloads of Chandryaan-2,” said ISRO.

The UR Rao Satellite Centre is the lead centre of Isro for the design, development, fabrication and testing of all Indian made satellites.

The Chandrayaan-2 mission involves after reaching the 100 km lunar orbit, the Lander-Vikram which is named after Vikram Sarabhai the father of Indian space programme housing the Rover will separate from the Orbiter. After a controlled descent, the Lander will soft land on the lunar surface at a specified site and deploy a Rover. The mission will carry a six-wheeled Rover that will move around the landing site in semi-autonomous mode as decided by the ground commands. The instruments on the rover will observe the lunar surface and send back data, which will be useful for analysis of the lunar soil.

The Rs 800-crore Chandrayaan-2 weighing around 3,290 kg and would orbit around the moon and perform the objectives of remote sensing the moon. The payloads will collect scientific information on lunar topography, mineralogy, elemental abundance, lunar exosphere and signatures of hydroxyl and water-ice.

Ganesh had tried for govt scholarships, but nothing worked so far. The 23-yr-old wants to start an e-commerce agricultural website when he returns from college. 23-year-old Ganesh RJ, son of an autorickshaw driver in Bengaluru, was over the moon when he came to know that he had been selected for a Master’s in Management programme in one of the top institutes in Germany.

His biggest inspiration is Jack Ma, co-founder of Alibaba Group and he plans to start an e-commerce agriculture website.

Born and brought up in Bengaluru, Ganesh studied in the city till Class 2 and then joined his mother in Chikkaballapur district, where his grandfather lived. He continued his education there till Class 5 and then wrote the entrance exam for Navodaya Vidyalaya, funded by the Centre which provides free education to children.

After his schooling, he joined PES College of Engineering in Mandya. When he completed his graduation in 2017, he was desperately in need of work to contribute to his family income. “Meanwhile, I joined an ashram in Chikkaballapur where I helped authorities with data entry work. One day, I came across a visitor at the temple who happened to be an entrepreneur and alumni of Stanford University, California. He motivated me to study further and search for postgraduate options. When I told him about my economic condition, he urged me to search for funding options.” So he wrote the entrance exams for universities abroad and got selected to Hamburg University of Technology. The fee was Rs 35 lakh there and he could not afford it.

‘I did an internship in a Bengaluru-based NGO which offers free education to children, and started working as a teacher. I taught Maths and English to Class X students. Later, authorities asked me to work for them on paid basis till I get my admission. I was lucky enough to clear another entrance and got into the Technical University of Munich, Germany, which is one of the best universities in the world.” He also did a German language course before his admission and scored 82%. “Currently, I am in the process of taking a loan and am approaching banks. I also tried getting loans through many state and central government schemes, but all in vain. I can manage fees, but for my accommodation and other expenses, I need a loan of Rs 17 lakh. To get a visa, I also had to show a minimum bank balance of Rs 7.5 lakh in my account. My mother managed the amount by borrowing a part of it from relatives and by pledging all her jewellery,” he says. He adds, “The only option now is to get a general loan where the interest is as high as 12% pa. The state government too has a scheme where it gives Rs 10 lakh per year to students of backward classes studying abroad. But I have not yet received any assurance from anywhere. I hope the education department processes the Devaraj Urs Foreign Education scholarship for aspirants like me. Otherwise, my dream of going abroad and completing my education will remain a dream.”

Helicopter joyrides will offer a glimpse of areas like Nandi Hills, Wonderla, South Bengaluru. 
It looks like heli-tourism is picking up pace in Bengaluru. After chopper rides from Bengaluru International Airport to various localities in the city, now a firm has come up to offer joy rides on helicopters in the city. 

A joint venture of National Aerospace, Research and Development (NARD) and Flyme, the chopper services will begin services shortly. There will be pick-up points from Nandi Hills and Bidadi to start with. And the firm promises to customise routes.

Robin George, CEO NARD, said, “These will act as the low-cost air taxis in and around the city. Currently, we are operating an AS350 helicopter which is a six-seater. We will be adding one more six-seater helicopter in November.”

NARD is also preparing heliports in Bidadi, Nandi Hills Road, and Dommasandra. Naik added, “In future, we will be planning to operate air-taxis in Uttarakhand and Kedarnath as well. Our aim is to promote tourism of all sorts, right from a pilgrimage to adventure.”

In Bengaluru, those planning to see Nandi hills from the top or those interested in an aerial view of south Bengaluru could avail of these rides. An official added, “We are planning to have rides in and around Wonderla as well. Visitors to the place will have a chance to take these rides and get a glimpse of the other part of the city.”

The firm is also planning to use rooftop helipads in the city to extend the routes. An official said, “The city has more than 90 rooftop helipads but only one has the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) approval so far.” They are also coming up with a website and an Android app from where customers can book seats like they do for the flights, added Flyme CEO Prasanna Venkatesh J.

BENGALURU From immediate blocking of FDI in e-commerce or retail trade to a transparent policy on e-commerce and a host of other demands under GST. traders in Bengaluru participated in a symbolic protest and bandh called against the merger of Walmart and Flipkart. thus supporting their counterparts in the rest of the country. While Yeshwantpur market area and ARMC yard remained closed for two hours between loam and 12pm. several distributors gathered at Town Hall raising slogans against what they termed was an onslaught of predatory capitalism affecting more than seven crore small businesses across the country.

"The Flipkart-WaImart deal is against the Centre's order from 2016. which does not allow FDI in e-commerce. As it is, with no proper regulation. e-commerce businesses are affecting prices and taking away customers from wholesalers and retailers. Now. With the infusion of more money from outside. they will be able to destroy us completely. While our efforts today were not a complete success. it was intended to send a message to the government," said Ramesh Chandra Lahoti, president, Bangalore Vlholesale Food Grains & Pulses Merchants Association.

Among those who supported the bandh were the Bangalore Grain Merchants Association, Bangalore Wholesale Food Grains & Pulses Merchants Association, the APMC Yard Merchants Association. Local Lorry Owners Association. Bangalore APMC Onion & Potato Merchants Association and APMC Yard Mandi Hamaligala Sangha. Besides, the Karnataka FMCG Distributors Welfare Association (KFDWA) also participated.

R Jayant Ganig, president, KFDWA, argued: "you may have several shops open in Bengaluru, but all our distributors suspended work. Also, if you sec cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai. Delhi and other places, there has been a good response. We have a list of demands that we want the Centre to fulfil." Mixed response to pharma bandh.

The statewide pharmacy bandh called by the Karnataka Chemists and Druggists' Association saw a mixed response on Friday. While all chemists' associations agreed in principle to the protest. not everyone shut shop. In Bengaluru, most shops were open and operational.

The chemists' grouse has been loopholes in the draft regulations on e.pharmacies. According to them, restricted drugs such as anti-depressants might get sold without verification on online portals.

Bruhath Bengaluru Chemists and Druggists Association has petitioned chief minister HO Kumaraswamy, stating medicines are not consumer goods to be blindly purchased online. "If e.pharmacies is allowed, patients may buy cheaper alternatives without informing doctors, leading to severe side effects in patients." said K Harish Kumar, general secretary. Bruhath Bengaluru Chemists and Druggists Association.
